Uwe Fischer studied industrial design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach. In 1985 he founded Ginbande Design. In the years that followed, he developed a number of experimental projects as well as numerous products. In 1993 he opened his office in Frankfurt Am Main.
The themes of the projects designed by Uwe Fischer's office are based primarily on the interest in and curiosity about problematic issues in architecture and design. The openness and willingness towards the contents reflects a very special way of working, which is mainly based on the dialogue with all partners involved in the different projects. The office does not see itself exclusively as a service provider, but as an experimental workshop. In 1993 Uwe Fischer received a chair at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg. Since 2001 he is helding the chair for Industrial Design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.
